120 Boko-Haram Members Arrested During Burial Of Their Commander

The Special Forces in Borno State on Monday said about 120 terrorists have been arrested in Maiduguri, the state capital, as they organised a burial ceremony for one of their commanders who died in an encounter with soldiers.

Defence spokesman, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade, in a press statement disclosed that the arrested insurgents were in the custody of the Joint Task Force (JTF) where they were being interrogated.

He said the Special Forces had now secured the environs of New Marte, Hausari, Krenoa, Wulgo and Chikun Ngulalo, all in Borno state, after destroying all the terrorists’ camps sited in these localities.

The statement said that the troops were already interacting with locals and citizens assuring them of their safety and freedom from the activities of insurgents.

Lagos, Nigeria (CNN) -- At least 20 insurgents were killed Friday as Nigeria's military carried out an aerial bombardment of suspected militant Islamist camps in the country's northeast, a Defense Ministry spokesman said.
The raid by Nigerian Air Force jets and attack helicopters is part of what the military says is a "massive deployment" of Nigerian forces this week to tackle insurgent groups, including Boko Haram.

Reps, Niger gov want Dokubo-Asari, Kuku arrested

The House of Representatives on Tuesday asked the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, to quiz ex-militant, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, over his latest comment that there would be no peace in Nigeria if President Goodluck Jonathan was not re-elected in 2015.

In a separate statement, Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu also asked security agencies to arrest Dokubo-Asari for alleged treasonable offence.

In a resolution in Abuja, the federal lawmakers said Dokubo-Asari’s statement was “capable of causing disaffection in Nigeria.”

Dokubo-Asari is the Leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force.

Dokubo-Asari threat came on the heels of a similar statement credited to the Presidential Adviser on Amnesty, Mr. Kingsley Kuku.

Boko Haram gunmen killed 22 police officers, 14 prison officials, two soldiers and four civilians, while 13 of the group's own members died, military spokesman Sagir Musa told Reuters.

Gunmen freed 105 prison members during the raid which began at around 5 a.m. (0400 GMT) and lasted almost five hours, Musa said. Bama's police station, military barracks and government buildings were burned to the ground, a Reuters witness saw.
Bama is a small, remote town in northeastern Borno state, where Boko Haram first launched an uprising in 2009.

Primary school, children play clapping games while singing songs about Living in Bondage, considered the first Nollywood blockbuster, and the film that launched the Nigerian cinema industry.
However, as the industry grew, parents began to forbid their children to watch Nigerian movies due to the abundant depictions of rituals or “juju”.
Still Nollywood continued its ascent, and it is not until when a Nigerian goes outside that he realise how much of an influence Nollywood has.
Perhaps Nollywood is so influential because of its shows of wealth, which many living in poverty aspire to, while simultaneously reflecting the realities and challenges of ordinary people as it imparts one moral message or another.

Mother Slashes Daughter With Blade For Wasting N100

Angry residents of ono- odan street, ijanikan, Lagos nearly lynched a mother, Kudirat Abiola for cutting her nine yr old daughter, Precious, with Razor blade

Kudirat made deep cuts on Precious’ back, left leg and right arm with the blade to “teach her a lesson.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that Kudirat decided to punish her daughter after she wasted N100 given to her by her father on junk food.
A resident, who pleaded anonymity, told PUNCH Metro on Tuesday that neighbours were furious after seeing the damage on Precious, adding that the incident was one of many brutalities perpetrated by Kudirat, a mother of two and a trader.
He said, “We wanted to take her to the police, but Precious pleaded for her. The residents nevertheless searched for Kudirat, but she could not be found.
Precious’ father, Dayo, is a customs officer.
