Oladele Bamisile, a building engineer, came to Nigeria in 2012 to take care of his family’s business. He was a Nigerian resident in Oklahoma, United States of America.
Sadly on March 2, 2013, he was shot and killed by six gunmen at about 1:45pm in his house at 2, Fashoro Street, Shomolu, Lagos State.
According to eyewitnesses, the killers, who were said to be in their twenties, came in a coffee colour Sienna SUV, had lurked around for over two hours waiting for Bamisile, who was at a beer parlour.
The gunmen trailed him to his house and shot him in the neck, killing him on the spot. One of the eyewitnesses said: “Oladele is an easy going person and he is loved by everyone.
“We noticed that those men looking for him didn’t know him but could only identify him through his KIA SUV. One of the gunmen came in to ask if they actually sell beer in the apartment but the guy he met told him no.
“Meanwhile, Oladele was in a beer parlour close by.
“Oladele left for his home around 10:35pm, which was just a stone throw from where he drank his beer. He entered his premises, parked his car and was about to come down when one of the killers, brandishing a pistol, accosted him.
“The others too, fully armed, surrounded the vehicle and there was an argument between him and the young man and he was overheard asking the young man what his offence was that could warrant them wanting to kill him.
“But before he could appeal to them, they shot him in the neck, waited and watched him die.
“When they eventually left, Oladele was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, he was brought in dead.
“The police from the Alakara Police Station, led by the Divisional Police Officer, visited the scene of the crime.
Oladele’s body was deposited at the Mainland mortuary. It was gathered that Bamisile’s mother with his wife and children in the United States of America have been in deep sorrow and have not yet come to terms with his gruesome death.
Close friends of the deceased, who requested anonymity, have alleged that Bamisile was murdered by assassins and lamented that the police had not made any arrest.
One of his friends said: “From all indications, it was hired assassins job perpetrated by cultists. Sadly, the police have not arrested anybody".
“The family plans to bury him on April 11 but there is nothing to show that they would get justice.”
